Statement of Faith

for Tapestry Homeschool Forum

We Believe:

1. In one God, Creator of all things, sovereign and infinitely perfect, who eternally exists in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

2. The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings; the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the Divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.

3. That man was created perfect in the image of God, but willingly chose to sin by disobeying God and was therefore separated from his creator. Since then, all human beings are born with a sinful nature, unable to save themselves, and are in need of salvation that only God, through Jesus Christ, can grant them.

4. That Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. Because of His perfect life, his death on a cross was the only acceptable sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, where at the right hand of God the Father, He now is our High Priest and Advocate.

5. That the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God.

6. That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to reveal and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service.

7. We believe that salvation is by grace, a free gift of God apart from works. Salvation involves justification, sanctification, and glorification. Salvation comes thorough personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who gives us assurance of our salvation. Those God saves are born again by the Holy Spirit and thus become His children. Genuine salvation will be manifested by faith and repentance – a changed life.

8. We believe in the personal, visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ to earth and in the bodily resurrection of the believer to heaven and the unbeliever to hell.
